Spirit coaches for the Competitive teams are community and parent volunteers that have completed the FUNdamentals, Learn to Train, and/or Train to Train courses from the National Coaching Certification (NCCP) process.
Team managers and trainers are often parents or older players who step up to be more involved and help with various aspects like team communication, organizing carpooling, tournament accommodations, etc...

The current age groups are flexible and tentative. The number of teams, and the age divisions, will depend on those willing to give a commitment to play.
Signing up for the fall bootcamp (as a player or Jr. Coach) is a great way to see if you're interested in playing competitively!

Be sure to check tryout dates and locations for your specific team!
Practice/Game/Tournament commitments may vary per team. Coaches will have more detailed information of expectations for the season at tryouts.
Generally, twice a week practices + games + tournaments will give players ample time to develop their skills and put minutes on the court.
The cost of playing for the season will vary depending on # of tournaments (parental input is often welcome), and the 'swag' the players opt for (past items include: hoodies, personalized bags, water bottles, etc...). A good estimate is around $400-450 for the season.

"Sometimes, families need financial assistance to get their kids into a sport or physical activity. We're committed to helping all families access a range of activities."

"Ontario Growing Up Through Sports offers financial assistance to low-income families across communities in Ontario. Ontario Growing Up Through Sports believes that no matter the situation at home, all kids should be able to enjoy what playing sports has to offer in their local communities."

"Sports and physical activity teach children various important life lessons: they open a child's mind, bring together children from various backgrounds, build confidence and self-esteem, and improve mental and physical health.
We hope to give every child the opportunity to reap the benefits of sports and physical activity."

"KidSport is a national not-for-profit organization that provides financial assistance for registration fees and equipment to kids aged 18 and under."

The "Can I Play Too?" program has been established to support families who reside in the boundaries of Strathroy-Caradoc to enable the participation of children in sports and recreation programs by minimizing financial barriers for families in need.

The Spirit Competitive program has developed teams for players from ages 8 to 18 that travel to various cities in Ontario, playing teams in their respective leagues, such as Novice, Atom, Bantam, and Midget.
Two practices each week plus games and tournaments provide players with ample opportunity to improve their skills and build team spirit!

Strathroy Spirit girls basketball teams have brought home numerous provincial medals and tournament championships, but most of all, wherever we go we show great Spirit!

Spirit Basketball coaches are the backbone of the organization, and are excited to help players bring their game to a new level! Head coaches of the competitive teams all complete the FUNdamentals course and the L2T (Learn to Train): Introduction to Competition course through the National Coaching Certification Program.
We’re excited to invite all female athletes born in 2011 and 2012 to participate in our U16 Recruit Camp and Tryouts for the upcoming fall/winter season.
The program will run over five weeks, with sessions held every Wednesday from 7:00–8:00 PM, beginning May 20 and continuing through June 17. Cost $50.
