Open tryouts for the U16 & U17/19 female teams are being hosted at the SDCI/HCC high school gyms in Strathroy beginning November 6th & 11th.

Please feel free to share this flyer and information with family, friends, and or community members.

Additional Info:

* The season will run from November 2024 until April/May 2025.

* Practice and home games will be held on Monday and Wednesday evenings between 6-9:30pm.

* Approximate cost for the season: $400-450.

Our mission is to increase participation and skill levels for girls in Strathroy and the surrounding areas while encouraging a healthy lifestyle and positive participation in team sport.

Volunteers are the foundation of community programs, and the Bootcamps, House Leagues and the Competitive programs run thanks to the time and commitment from coaches, volunteers, and parents.

Strathroy Spirit Basketball is a volunteer-driven organization which aims to enhance the lives of young girls in the Strathroy area.

Competitive Teams

Spirit Bootcamp runs Wednesday nights from mid-September to mid-November for girls grades 3-8 at the SDCI & HCC highschool gyms in Strathroy.

From 6-7:30pm, the girls will run drills, play games, and make great friendships as they learn the foundations of great basketball.

Geared for players of every level of experience, the Bootcamp will give new players confidence in their game, and also challenge experienced players to bring it to the next level!

Competitive Teams

The Competitive program of Spirit basketball begins with tryouts in November, and runs until late April - early May.

Certified coaches challenge players during practice twice a week, and get them lots of court time with games and tournaments throughout the season.

Jr. Winter League

Starting Date: January 8, 2025

Competitive in-house 3-on 3 League for girls from Grades 3-6.

The 9-week season will include skill development, a cool team jersey, a Spirit hoodie and lots of court time!

Once a week with no extra travel or time commitment, this program was created to keep the girls on the court with a stronger focus on game play.

Sr. Winter League

There will be a U19 Competitive Team instead this year.

Geared towards girls in Grades 8-12 that are looking to both enhance their skills and up their court time experience should join us for a new Spirit opportunity!

It's a 10 week program that will run every Wednesday night from 7:30-9pm at the high school gyms.

This is a great option for girls who love the game, but can't commit to a full competitive season. Maybe you're taking lots of shifts at work, have a heavy course load or lots of school work, or you're playing other sports at school....

Whatever else you have going on, this winter league will help you stay in shape with lots of game play, bring your skills to the next level, and create some great friendships in a positive atmosphere!

Where would we be without volunteers?

The Strathroy Spirit basketball program has run since 1992 on the dedication of volunteers from the communities of Strathroy and surrounding area. Would you like to be on the court teaching kids to dribble and shoot? Or perhaps you have interest in marketing, website upkeep, or social media? Maybe you would enjoy working behind the scenes with registration spreadsheets, or helping order t-shirts?
