Hello Spirit Families!
We haven't done this in the past, however, we'd like to invite all parents (whether your daughter participated in the Boot Camp, Jr. 3-on-3, or either of the competitive teams), to join us for a
General Club Information Meeting:
WEDNESDAY, MAY 22 @ 7pm - Meeting at the SDCI Cafeteria
(join us through the Community Entrance)
We wrapped up a great season in April, and we are thankful for all the dedication and help from parents throughout the year.
With such a great turnout in registrations for all our programs this year, we knew, as coaches, that we needed to do some early planning for the fall in terms of what we will be offering in the 2024-2025 season. We realize that one of the most important parts to the process is communicating with parents on what our goals are, and getting some feedback from you as well.
We'd like to give you information on what is happening with the Club organization structure, policy updates, and present some options in terms of teams/programs/coaching.
One of the best things about the Spirit Basketball community that we've seen is high parent engagement, and we hope that you will be able to find one evening this month to re-join us as we strive to provide an excellent athletic experience for your kids!
We're all looking forward to meeting with you!
Sincerely,
Strathroy Spirit Basketball
Cassie, Brenda, Laura, Ian, Greg, Kathryn
PS. Strathroy Spirit Basketball has always been organized by community and parent volunteers - if you are interested in getting involved, please contact us!
The Strathroy Spirit girls basketball club has been a part of the Ontario Basketball Assocation (OBA) since 1992.
That's over three decades of encouraging and developing young female athletes. Three decades of coaching, managing, volunteering, and parenting the leaders of tomorrow.
It's not just a club, it's a community.
Our mission is to increase participation and skill levels for girls in Strathroy and the surrounding areas while encouraging a healthy lifestyle and positive participation in team sport.
Check out the 8-week fall Bootcamp, winter competitive house leagues, or try out for an OBA Competitive travel team that runs November - April.
Volunteers are the foundation of community programs, and the Bootcamps, House Leagues and the Competitive programs run thanks to the time and commitment from coaches, volunteers, and parents.
Strathroy Spirit Basketball is a volunteer-driven organization which aims to enhance the lives of young girls in the Strathroy area.
Spirit Bootcamp runs Wednesday nights from mid-September to mid-November for girls grades 3-8 at the SDCI & HCC highschool gyms in Strathroy.
From 6:30-8pm, the girls will run drills, play games, and make great friendships as they learn the foundations of great basketball.
Geared for players of every level of experience, the Bootcamp will give new players confidence in their game, and also challenge experienced players to bring it to the next level!
The Competitive program of Spirit basketball begins with tryouts in November, and runs until late April - early May.
Certified coaches challenge players during practice twice a week, and get them lots of court time with games and tournaments throughout the season.
Looking for more information? Check out the Competitive Teams page for answers to all your questions!
Starting Date 2025: TBA
Competitive in-house 3-on 3 League for girls from Grades 3-6.
The short 8-week season will include skill development, a cool team jersey, a Spirit hoodie and lots of court time!
Once a week with no extra travel or time commitment, this program was created to keep the girls on the court with a stronger focus on game play.
NOT AVAILABLE THIS SEASON
There will be a U19 Competitive Team instead this year.
Geared towards girls in Grades 8-12 that are looking to both enhance their skills and up their court time experience should join us for a new Spirit opportunity!
It's a 10 week program that will run every Wednesday night from 7:30-9pm at the high school gyms.
This is a great option for girls who love the game, but can't commit to a full competitive season. Maybe you're taking lots of shifts at work, have a heavy course load or lots of school work, or you're playing other sports at school....
Whatever else you have going on, this winter league will help you stay in shape with lots of game play, bring your skills to the next level, and create some great friendships in a positive atmosphere!
The Strathroy Spirit basketball program has run since 1992 on the dedication of volunteers from the communities of Strathroy and surrounding area. Would you like to be on the court teaching kids to dribble and shoot? Or perhaps you have interest in marketing, website upkeep, or social media? Maybe you would enjoy working behind the scenes with registration spreadsheets, or helping order t-shirts?
If you are interested in giving of your time to help continue this great program for girls in our community, we’d love to hear from you.
